We were so excited that so many of you were able to make our first members meeting and screening of Free for All: The Public Library. We had a wonderful discussion about the importance of public libraries over wonderful donated pastries from Beloved’s Bread and coffee from Bibo’s!
Save the (multiple) dates!
We heard from so many of you who were interested in watching Free For All but were unable to attend on the 16th that we’ll be screening the documentary twice more! Those details are:
- Saturday, March 29, at 1:30pm (doors open 1:15): Sierra View Library (inside Reno Town Mall)
- Saturday, April 26, at 3:00pm: South Valleys Library
Our next members meeting will be:
- Sunday, March 16, at 3pm at the Coffee & Comics in Sparks
This member meeting will be a place to mingle and meet and also discuss our strategy for the next library board of trustees meeting, which is 5:30pm on March 19 at the Sparks Library.
You can always find upcoming meetings on our events page.
Your voice can make a difference!
If you are interested in giving testimony during this legislative session, our friends at Silver State Equality are having an extended VIRTUAL training this Saturday, March 1, from 1:30-3:30p. You can sign up for that here. You can also sign up for updates regarding legislative action this session here.
If you haven’t taken the pledge to support the freedom to read, please do so!
Unless you’ve fill out this form, we will NOT count your name toward our numbers of supporters. If you’re receiving this email but did NOT fill out the pledge form, then you are NOT counted. It only takes five seconds and helps us a lot! Thank you!

The steering committee is currently reading and discussing Healing Resistance: A Radically Different Response to Harm by Kazu Haga. If you pick it up by the next members meeting, let us know your thoughts!
We also recommend reading “When Peace Becomes Obnoxious,” a short sermon from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
If you pick Healing Resistance up from that link, be sure to select your favorite indie bookstore to get the proceeds—we, of course, are big fans of the local Radical Cat!
